Quote from mrodgers :LOL, you only started this thread like 6 hours ago, asking if you should go online, we haven't seen anything stating that you have gone online yet, and you get excited and buy the license. Good for you, you won't be disappointed!

Well, that's an Australia flag you're sporting, isn't it? Occasionally I see some Australians when I'm online, so I hope to see you sometime in the servers. Good luck and happy racing .

lol

I've had the demo for a few weeks and was always going to buy the licence, I just ended up doing it earlier than I could really afford. But I do that kind of thing all the time!

I'm at work so I've been sitting here all day, unable to play the game and thinking of what it would be like to have all the cars and tracks unlocked. In the end I couldn't help myslef!

Quote from clp :Congrats and welcome
make sure to stop by www.arse.org.au and www.australasianleague.com

CLP

Thank you mate. I was on there earlier today and registered and had a look around. Looks like a great site for Aussie leagues and the like!

Quote from thisnameistaken :Congrats!

Thank you mate!

Quote from thisnameistaken :LFS doesn't have voice chat built-in, but some hosts run teamspeak servers for voice support. I personally don't use it. You can map a bunch of text chat macros to the F1-F8 keys though, which come in handy for stuff like "Sorry", and "Thanks", and smileys and so on.

That's probably a good thing! It's only ever used to taunt or distract on Live so I like the fact that this isn't a built in feature in LFS.

Quote from thisnameistaken :Some freaks of nature are mega-quick regardless of car and track choice, but I think most normal racers specialise to some extent. You'll probably find a few cars that suit you straight away (well, with an appropriate setup anyway) and a few others that you'd like to drive but are more of a challenge (like the XR Turbo!), and the occasional car-that-cannot-be-driven (tip: it's the LX6)

Nice. There are always freaks like that! Sounds good, I don't have the time to try and specialise in everything, and I'm not one of the previously mentioned "freaks" - lol

Thanks for all your help at this early stage in my career everyone. It's nice to be so well accomodated when you are new to a site

Thanks Hyperactive

I am used to Xbox Live as I mentioned, do I go and get myself a headphone and microphone set up similar to Live for LFS? Sorry for being such a noob but I haven't had a decent PC since I played Counter Strike when it was first a Beta all those years ago! And then we only typed comments in.

Also, do most people tend to concentrate on a few different cars and/or tracks or does everyone just drive everything everywhere like they do on the xbox?

Thank you for the support mrodgers

I will definately do what you suggest and join after the grid has been set. I would be very interested to see how other people race, even if I'm well off the pace. It would also be a good opportunity to learn the rules etc.

I've been racing Forza on xbox live since it's release so I should be OK online. Just don't know what a new bunch of poeple expect. Most people on Xbox Live have no respect for anyone or anything around them so I expect this experience to be quite different. I'm looking forward to racing with people who know how to race!

I think I will try to get my times down in the XF GTi as you say, I am a pretty impatient person so I may have skipped ahead too far already - lol

PS - I am using the "Easy Race" setting so nicely shared by someone on this site

Thank you mate.

Wow - I only have 15 seconds to "shave off" - lol

I need plenty of practice, I realise. I will heed your advice and head online shortly. Might give it some more practiceover the next week, get my licence and head online
Ah the good times......

Hi All,

I'm pretty new here (der) and to LFS. I've had the demo for a few weeks and got a Momo wheel just a week ago. Extremely impressed and will have my S2 licence with next weeks pay.

Was just wondering if anyone could tell me what times I should be consistantly gaining in the XRT before I endeavour to race online?

When I get a chance (at work ATM) I will post a replay of mine to see where you guys think I can improve. At the moment I'm only just getting used to the whole thing but I can do consistant laps now without spinning and my times are coming down reasonably quickly.

Thank you everyone

I have Forza, have had since launch.

As you can see from my avatar I'm pretty "into" it. Main reason is that I haven't had the money to go PC racing for quite some time so the xbox was my only release.

Luckily the reason I post here today is that I finally got a laptop that will run LFS, will have a DFP in a week or 2 and then an S2 licence immediately afterwards

I'm looking forward greatly to my LFS experience but the experiences I've had and still have with Forza are great. Forza is a great game and has many things the console market was missing before it's release. I have a great time with it.

The main problem, and I sighted this before it was released, is the lack of a true Force Feedback wheel for the xbox. If it wasn't for this I reckon Forza would be a truly great game. Sure it's not ultra realistic like LFS but it wasn't really ever meant to be.

I'm hoping I can be a fan of both console and PC gaming though it seems from the posts here console gamers are on the outer?
